• Meeting to fill vacancy – November 19

    NOTICE

     The 11th Congressional District Democratic Committee will meet to fill a vacancy in the committee for resident of Fairfax County who identifies as a woman on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 8:00 pm at the Fairfax County Democratic Committee Headquarters (8500 Executive Park Ave., Suite 402, Fairfax, VA 22031).

    Persons interested in filling this vacancy may submit their name, and optionally a one-page statement to describe their background and interest in the vacancy, via email to filing@11thdistrictdemocrats.org before 7:30 pm on Monday, November 12, 2018.


    Details

    A member of the 11th Congressional District Democratic Committee has resigned, creating a vacancy of 1 (one) position on the committee from Fairfax County for a person who identifies as a woman. This vacancy will be filled as prescribed in Section 6.5 of the Democratic Party of Virginia Party Plan.

    Under the authority granted in Section 6.4 of the DPVA Party Plan, the Chair has called a meeting of the Committee on Mon., November 19, 2018 at 8:00 PM to fill the vacancy. This meeting will be held at the Fairfax County Democratic Committee Headquarter, 8500 Executive Park Ave., Suite 402, Fairfax, VA 22031.

    Members of the 11th Congressional District Democratic Committee from Fairfax County will meet at 7:30 pm on the same day and at the same location to consider making a recommendation to the full committee.

    If you are interested in the vacancy, please send an email to: filing@11thdistrictdemocrats.org before 7:30 pm on Monday, November 12, 2018. You may optionally include a one-page statement with your nomination. Pre-filing is not required to be considered for the vacancy, but it is strongly encouraged.

      4. Discussion: correct Sandra’s last name misspelling; correct Rachel’s attendance; George Becerra admitted his absences but claimed familial reason. Chair Haley stated that every member of committee gives advance notice to chair, vice chair, secretary or complete committee if she/he cannot attend and the chair’s interpretation of “excused” is very understanding and generous.  Becerra has never given any advance notice or notice on day of absence so it is not excused.
