  • Convention Delegates Selected

    All localities in the 11th Congressional District held caucuses on April 16th to elect state delegates and alternates. These delegates and alternates will attend both the 11th CD convention on May 14 and the Virginia State convention on June 16. Each delegate and alternate is pledged to one of the Presidential candidates (Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders).

  • Call to Convention: May 14, 2016

    Pursuant to the authority provided by the Virginia Democratic Party Plan (“Party Plan”), the 11th Congressional District Convention will convene at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church, Virginia 22042. The purpose of the Convention shall be:

    1. To select seven (7) delegates to the 2016 Democratic National Convention;
    2. To select a presidential elector representing the 11th Congressional District in the 2016 general presidential election;
    3. To consider resolutions;
    4. To conduct such other business as may properly come before the Convention.

    How to Be a Delegate or Alternate to the 11th Congressional Convention

    197 delegates and 50 alternates to the 11th CD Convention and the State Democratic Convention shall be those elected by city, county or magisterial district caucuses beginning at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 16, 2016. The exact breakdown is:

    Prince William County will hold a caucus on April 16 at the PWC Democratic Committee HQ in Woodbridge. Click here to download the Call to Caucus for more details.     City of Fairfax

    How to be a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention

    The 11th CD Convention will elect seven delegates to the national convention. The breakdown of these delegates is:

    • Four (4) delegates pledged to Hillary Clinton: Two (2) females and two (2) males
    • Three (3) delegates pledged to Bernie Sanders: Two (2) females and one (1) male

    You can pre-file to run for national delegate at 11thdistrictdemocrats.org/nationaldelegate. Note: This form can be used to file to run for national delegate or alternate in any Congressional District, or At-Large. Click here to download a paper pre-filing form (for 11th CD or At-Large filing, only).

    Deadlines:

    • For CD level delegates: 5:00 pm Friday, April 29, 2016
    • For At-Large delegates and PLEO’s: 5:00pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016

    Slates
    Any individual or group of Democrats may sponsor or endorse a slate of candidates. To file a group as a slate, each member must first apply individually as a delegate using the links above. Then click here to download the slate application form, complete and send to the 11th CD Chair no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, April 29, 2016.


     

    11th Congressional District Democratic Elector

    The 11th CD Convention will elect one (1) elector to the Electoral College to represent the 11th CD in the 2016 general presidential election. Click here to download the pre-filing form for elector from the 11th CD. Forms are due no later than 5:00 pm Friday, April 29, 2016.
